The Jaffrey laboratory seeks to uncover the basis for altered gene expression in neurodevelopmental disorders, autism, and cancer. They have found that a hallmark of these and other diseases is altered regulation of cellular RNA. They use a combination of molecular biology, chemical biology, imaging and bioinformatics approaches to define how RNA is regulated in normal and disease states, thereby revealing new paradigms of gene expression and mechanisms of disease.
